PHYS 1000: Gateway to Physics
A seminar introducing physics and astronomy as disciplines and as careers.
What it is
Seminar course intended for physics majors and anyone curious about physics and astronomy. No background in physics is necessary. The course engages a broad spectrum of resources and experiential opportunities to explore physics and astronomy as disciplines and as careers. Exploration will be done through guest presentations by faculty members and graduates of the program, through investigations of career options and pathways, and through skill building exercises and research experiences.
When to take it
Offered every Fall and Spring semester. All physics majors are required to take this course, as early as possible and before the introductory physics courses. Students who enter with a Physics Associate's (AS) degree may not be required to take it.
