1.   Solar energy conversion in natural and artificial systems.

2.   Time-resolved infrared spectroscopy of biological systems.

3.  Quantum chemical calculations of the properties of pigments in proteins.

4.  Polarized infrared microscopy for studies of membrane protein crystals.

5.    Infrared microscopy and nanoscopy for the study of biological cells.

6.    Microalgae for bioproducts and bioremediation.

7.    Vibrational spectroscopy for assessing bacterial cells and their susceptibility to antibiotics.

8.    New instrumentation and methods in vibrational spectroscopy.
